With these gentlemen on the edge of their improvisational seats and allowing their future musings to connect and disconnect, FULMINATE TRIO conjure up the fire god. Their audio-poltergeists hover, dart, collide, morph, transmute and fly in unison and contrary motion in and out of auditory focus. FULMINATE TRIO has developed their sound since 2005 and has performed at numerous NYC and EU venues.

Reviews

This daring trio ... operates on a delicate, acute listening dynamic for half of this experimental ECM-ish program (particularly on Carla Bley's "Floater"and Nilsson's ambient "Sound Fear"). But they are also capable of exploding with rock-fueled dissonance and bombast, as on Evans' "Road Runner." Filiano, a deep-toned anchor on upright, contributes extraordinary arco work throughout, while Evans shines in rubato situations,a la Paul Motian. And Nilsson is steeped in the renegade six-string tradition of Bill Frisell, David Torn, Terje Rypdal and Fred Frith. [Bill Milkowski, JazzTimes, May 2009]

Biographies

Swedish-born electric guitarist ANDERS NILSSON moved to NYC 8 years ago. He has since collaborated with many artists on the experimental NY scene; Sabir Mateen, Raoul Björkenheim, Kermit Driscoll, Fay Victor, Jeff Arnal and Angelblood. He also leads his own Swedish band AORTA and has collaborated with butoh artist Akira Kasai.

Embracing classical, jazz, the world of spontaneous improvisation and inter-disciplinary performances with dance and the spoken word, KEN FILIANO fuses the rich traditions available to the double bass, bringing out the many voice inherent within this instrument. Ken tours widely, playing across the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. He has performed and/or recorded with Warne Marsh, Bobby Bradford, Vinny Golia, Nels Cline, and many more.

MICHAEL EVANS is an improvising drummer / percussionist / multi-instrumentalist / composer whose work investigates and embraces the collision of sound and theatrics. As well as being a drumset player, his work with unusual sound sources includes found objects, homemade instruments, the theremin and various digital and homemade analog electronics. He has recorded and performed with a variety of artists locally and internationally such as God is my Co-Pilot, William Parker and Evan Parker.
